About the product

Canguru is a pregnancy monitoring application that combats risks during this delicate time.

Some of these risks include violence and medical abuse, household accidents, and unfounded beliefs that can cause complications during pregnancy.

And how does Canguru combat these risks? Through information, both from mother to mother and through healthcare professionals.

Working on paper

Working on paper

Working on paper

A significant part of my creative process unfolds on paper, as I find it to be an excellent medium for quickly materializing my thoughts. For this project, I extensively utilized pen-and-paper prototypes, along with boards and techniques like Personas, User Journey mapping, and countless notes to organize and refine ideas.

Prototype testing

I conducted a usability test with real clients to evaluate a mobile app prototype. Using a dual-camera setup—one capturing the participant’s reactions and another recording their navigation on the phone—I gathered detailed insights into user behavior and emotions.

This approach revealed pain points, areas of confusion, and opportunities for improvement, which I used to refine the design. The test highlighted my ability to plan, execute, and analyze usability studies, ensuring the final product was intuitive and user-centered.

Here are screenshots of the app’s original design, which had usability issues like cluttered layouts, unclear navigation, and inconsistent visuals. Analyzing these screens helped me identify pain points and guide the redesign process

Mom’s Corner: Building Trust and Support

We created the “Mom’s Corner” to address expecting mothers’ concerns about their changing bodies. Based on research, this space offers practical tips and guidance for self-care during pregnancy, fostering trust and empowering users with confidence and reassurance.

Form: Relevance and User-Centric Design

The new form is divided into sections, appearing only after users complete specific actions within the app. This approach ensures we deliver value first, then request information, creating a more seamless and user-friendly experience. By timing the form strategically, we respect the user’s journey and increase the likelihood of meaningful engagement.

Forum: Relevance and Credibility

We created a Forum where users can connect and share experiences. To ensure trust, we added a tagging system to differentiate professional opinions from peer advice, helping users find reliable support while fostering a sense of community.

Baby Area: Engagement and Personalization

We transformed the Baby Area into the app’s home screen, featuring a badge system to celebrate fetal development milestones. To preserve excitement, we show only stage-specific updates, avoiding future details. This keeps the experience fresh and engaging, encouraging users to return for new surprises.

Expert Chat: Relevance and Credibility

We introduced the Expert Chat feature, connecting users directly with medical professionals—a highly requested feature in our research. This tool allows users to seek guidance for both routine questions and emergency situations, providing reliable, timely support.

By addressing user needs and prioritizing credibility, the Expert Chat enhances trust and ensures users feel informed and supported throughout their journey.

Here’s the animated prototype I created to bring the app’s design to life. It showcases key features like the Baby Area milestones, Expert Chat, and Forum, highlighting intuitive navigation and smooth transitions. This interactive demo communicates the app’s functionality and user experience effectively.
